The lamp is inspired by the shape of the great fish that
swallowed the prophet Jonah: the metal skeleton from
which it is made traces the obsessive, organic curve
of its belly. The myth takes us back to the image of
the enlightenment received by Jonah, here poetically
rendered in the form of a lamp.
The wall-mounted version of Giona N 2 is a reissue of
the Giona pendant lamp, designed in 2007. This new
version consists of a structure comprising five contiguous
truncated cones. The frame is coated with Cocoon resin
using a manual spray-application process, creating a
translucent membrane that diffuses the light. The light
source consists of LED strips which, encased in the
Cocoon shell, produce a diffused, ethereal and enveloping
glow.
